Supported Employment Specialist

Community Connections is the largest not for profit behavioral health agency in DC, serving vulnerable individuals, families, and children since 1984.  The Supported Employment Specialists will partner with adult or transition age youth clients diagnosed with serious mental illness towards their goal of employment, and develop relationships with job providers to achieve successful placements. 

Supported Employment Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Network with DC area businesses to establish relationships for placements
  • Actively secure employment matches for clients
  • Support clients after employment match to ensure success

Supported Employment Specialist Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • One year experience working in behavioral health, employment services, and/or retail/customer service
  • Outgoing personality and ability to network
  • Excellent problem solving skills

  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and the Internet

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Pass Community Connections’ agency background check

  • Preferred to have experience working with adults with mental illness

  • Preferred to have a personal car and clean driving record
