Giving Tuesday

The general support of private funders, Community Connections created a specific fund for those who have a chronic history of homelessness.  Helping hands provides short-term financial assistance for individuals and families who have exhausted other financial resources.

Success Story

A veteran at Walter Reed came to his case manager requesting assistance purchasing clothes. He mentioned that he had been without new clothes for quite a long time and was interested in going to church and feeling comfortable with what he was wearing. Walter Reed experience two fires this year. One of which caused extreme flooding in the building. Many of our residents clothes and personal items were impacted. With the help of Helping Hands this veteran, as well as others, was able to replace some of those lost items. The resident later shared that he felt like a new man with these clothes on and he was unashamed to attend church now wearing these new clothes.
