Community Connections took part in the NBC 4 Health and
Fitness Expo on March 10th and 11th. They had a table in
the Changing Minds Section. The Changing Minds Section displayed many different
mental health agencies in the district. Mental health is a major aspect of a person’s
overall health and Community Connections was there to educate people about the
importance of making your mental health a priority. Over 500 people stopped by
our table, spun the wheel of wellness and received information on stress,
anxiety, self-soothing and much more. We were able to raffle off 6 of our CEO,
Maxine Harris, books off to the public which highlights starting a nonprofit. Our
very own, Renee Robertson, was given the opportunity to speak on Community
Connections 12 different peer programs. We believe that reaching out to the
community can bring a better awareness of mental health. If you would like any
information or want to find out how you can connect with Community Connections give
us a call at 202-546-1512.
