DC Trauma Collaboration Study
The National Capital Center for Trauma Recovery and Empowerment
works with women 18 years or older residing in Washington, D.C.
who have a history of physical and/or sexual abuse, mental health
and substance abuse problems.
The National Capital Center for Trauma Recovery and Empowerment
partnered with the New
Hampshire Dartmouth Psychiatric Research Center and received
a grant from the federal Substance
Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Through
this grant, we are sharing information, providing training, and
exploring the feasibility of an integrated system of care in Washington,
D.C.
Elements of the Study:
Assemble a coalition of public and private human service agencies.
Establish a Steering Committee to include stakeholder group administrators,
consumer/survivors, and clinicians.
Utilize the Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Model (TREM) for training
clinicians and for serving consumer/survivors.
Develop and train at least two Integrated Trauma Treatment Teams
(ITTT)
Evaluate the effectiveness of integrated mental health, substance
abuse, trauma services.
Consumers are involved in all phases of this study, providing
input, feedback, and oversight for both the integration and evaluation
