DC Trauma Collaboration Study

The National Capital Center for Trauma Recovery and Empowerment works with women 18 years or older residing in Washington, D.C. who have a history of physical and/or sexual abuse, mental health and substance abuse problems.

The National Capital Center for Trauma Recovery and Empowerment partnered with the New Hampshire Dartmouth Psychiatric Research Center and received a grant from the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Through this grant, we are sharing information, providing training, and exploring the feasibility of an integrated system of care in Washington, D.C.

Elements of the Study:

  • Assemble a coalition of public and private human service agencies.
  • Establish a Steering Committee to include stakeholder group administrators, consumer/survivors, and clinicians.
  • Utilize the Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Model (TREM) for training clinicians and for serving consumer/survivors.
  • Develop and train at least two Integrated Trauma Treatment Teams (ITTT)
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of integrated mental health, substance abuse, trauma services.

Consumers are involved in all phases of this study, providing input, feedback, and oversight for both the integration and evaluation phases. For more information on the study, please contact Roger D. Fallot, Ph.D., at rfallot@ccdc1.org.
