Community Connections
Get Involved:  Make a Contribution

Community Connections has been fortunate to have gift funds available for client use.  The gift funds provide cash gifts to clients in need of everything from winter clothes, personal care items, apartment furniture, medications, security deposits, emergency utility service and the purchase of birth certificates and other documentation.  Since the inception of these funds, over 500 individuals have received gifts ranging from $15 for school supplies to over $1000 for the payment of back utility bills.

Sara's Fund, endowed in 2000 by Maxine Harris and her husband Mark Smith in honor of her mother, Sara Harris, provides gifts to women and children living in poverty. There is no limit on the size of gifts, although most tend to be between $100 and $500.

The Community Connections Helping Hand Fund receives donations that are designated for direct assistance to clients.  The intent is to assist clients with a one-time need or emergency situation to bridge a resource gap.

Your generous contribution to the client gift funds or general operating needs will be used to improve the lives of women, men and children in the District of Columbia.
