Chief Operating Officer
Ellen Gardner, CPA, MBA, became the Chief Operating Officer for Community Connections in September, 2011. She has a long history with the agency, serving as its Chief Financial Officer from 1997-2006 and as a consultant between 2006-2011, assisting with special projects, real estate activity and board governance. Ms. Gardner has extensive experience in operations, financial analysis, portfolio management, inventory control, contract negotiation, grants management, committee liaison and board governance. Previously she has worked as a senior consultant in the not-for-profit arena for a regional accounting firm, finance officer at the University of Maryland, and special projects director for an international specialty retailer. She has worked and volunteered with a diverse group of not-for-profits, including independent schools, public and private universities, national membership organizations, social service agencies, real estate management companies, condominium associations and cooperative financial institutions. A member of the American Institution for Certified Public Accounts, Ms. Gardner earned a bachelor's degree in economics and management from Goucher College and an MBA from Loyola University Maryland.
