Property Accounting Manager

Community Connections, Inc. is seeking a proactive, organized, motivated, and collaborative property accountant to manage the financial accounting of the residential and commercial portfolio as well as all property, plant and equipment of the organization. The ideal property accountant should be fluent in Yardi Voyager (or a similar property management software) and have experience in data migration and software upgrades/implementation. He/she should have hands-on-managerial experience with strong technical skills in accounting and be able to produce accurate and timely financial information to both internal and external users. The property accountant will be a key member of the finance team and will work closely with the Controller and CFO.

Essential Duties and Job Functions/Responsibilities: 

- provide financial oversight and accounting for (45) residential properties

- provide financial oversight and accounting for all property, plant, and equipment

- monitor and account for all leased property- includes equipment and office space

- monitor and account for residential property loans and any related grant restrictions

- administer and maintain property management software, Yardi Voyager

- administer and maintain fixed asset management software, BNA

- prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries as part of the periodic closing process

- perform monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger reconciliations for property-related accounts

- perform monthly reconciliation of subsidiary ledger software with corporate general ledger

- provide support to the COO and grants team on all residential or supportive housing grants as needed

- monitor, prepare, and submit all local, state, and federal compliance and tax reporting requirements

- work closely with the housing and subsidy teams in monitoring tenant (and HAP) ledgers and ensuring proper financial accounting and reporting of residential and subsidy activity in Yardi Voyager

- act as liaison with program managers regarding compliance and tenant collections

- meet regularly with the property management, subsidy, and supportive housing teams to stay abreast of residential and supportive housing operations and activities

- administer and maintain property set-up, leases, sales, insurance information and lease charges for all residential properties

- manage the accounting specialist and supervise his/her day-to-day property accounting activity

- provide financial reporting of properties for both internal and external users as needed

- collaborate with team in developing a residential and supportive housing operating and capital budget

- assist in the annual audit process, preparing schedules and serving as audit contact for property items

- comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and stay abreast of current GAAP developments, including new lease changes

- attend annual Yardi conference and/or stay current with property management software


• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

• Minimum 4+ years of property accounting experience

• Minimum 2+ years of supervisory experience

• Strong Excel skills are required 
• Property management accounting software required; Yardi Voyager software experience a plus

• BNA software experience is a plus

• Knowledge of Section 8/Public Housing voucher program helpful
