Child and Family Community Mental Health Social Workers and Counselors

Community Connections is a dynamic mental health agency recognized nationally for innovative programming and commitment to interrupting the cycle of intergenerational transmission of trauma by providing high-quality, clinical mental health services focused on the strengths of each individual child, adolescent and family. The Community Based Intervention (CBI) Specialist serves children, adolescents and families who often experience crises and benefit from the highest intensity of community-based services.  Staff are licensed graduate social workers or counselors.

Social Worker and/or Counselor Responsibilities:

  • Manage a small caseload of children and adolescents who have a diagnosed mental health disorder and/or emotional difficulty
  • Provide clinical and therapeutic interventions focused on symptom management, family cohesion, and overcoming trauma
  • Provide community-based services
  • Collaborate with family members, school staff, and providers to coordinate best treatment practices

Social Worker and/or Counselor Qualifications:

  • LGSW or LGPC in DC
  • MSW or MA in Counseling
  • One year of experience working with children and adolescents with serious mental illnesses and their families
  • Pass Community Connections’ agency background check
  • Have a reliable personal vehicle, valid license, clean driving record, and willingness to transport clients as needed
